How to maintain your retractable roof system?
Retractable roofs made using polycarbonate and Aluminum are known for their aesthetics, functionality, and durability. Unlike glass, polycarbonate roofing systems do not chip or crack. However, over time grime or dirt may eventually build up over them if they are not cleaned.
Polycarbonate sheets are not difficult to maintain. To maintain or clean a structure, we must know what it is made of. At Megavent, the materials used to make the retractable roofs are not just high-quality but further fortified for durability and come with a warranty.
How Often Should You Clean Your Retractable Roof?
With the warranty we offer on our products, you can expect your retractable roof to last for a long time. However, to further enhance its durability and uphold its outer beauty, you must maintain it by cleaning the roof system at least twice every month. Over time, leaves, sticks, dust, and dirt can build up over the roof. If the debris is not removed, the aesthetic decline may initiate at a faster rate. Here are some easy tips that will help you clean your retractable roof:
How to Clean Your Polycarbonate Retractable Roof System?
1. Remove Any Large Debris – The first step in the cleaning process is to remove pieces of sticks or leaves that may have accumulated over the roof. You can use a soft brush or a leaf blower. Make sure you clean the debris gently, so they don't scratch the polycarbonate sheets.
2. Mix Mild liquid Soap with Lukewarm Water to clean the Polycarbonate sheets– Refrain from using any harsh chemicals or strong detergents. They will only damage the coating on the polycarbonate sheets.
3. Use a Soft Sponge/microfiber cloth to Wash the Polycarbonate Sheets – Use a soft sponge to gently clean the roof panels. A scrubber or rough sponge may not be ideal for polycarbonate sheets.
4. Change Water and Rinse Sponge Regularly – You must change the water regularly to avoid dirt from spotting the polycarbonate sheets. Instead of looking clean, the sheets will look messy and untidy. The sponge should also be rinsed in clean water continuously to avoid staining the sheets.
5. Check the Guttering – Ensure that the water that flows through the guttering is not blocked. Dirt or debris should not cause a blockage. If there is any water collection unit in the roof system, remember to reattach it.
